[News] Apple Replaces iPod Touch 4th Gen With A New iPod Touch 5th Gen

Image

Apple announced the new, fifth-generation 16 GB iPod Touch that costs $229 — making it a bit less expensive than the fifth-generation 32 GB iPod Touch at $299 and 64 GB iPod Touch at $399, both of which were released last fall. Meanwhile, Apple has stopped selling the fourth-generation 16 GB iPod Touch with a 3.5-inch screen, which costed $199.

The 16 GB device has a black front and silver back. The 32 GB and 64 GB versions are also available in pink, yellow, light blue, and red. The iPod Touch has been popular over the years. Apple has sold 100 million of the touch-screen iPods since their introduction in 2007, according to blogger Jim Dalrymple at The Loop. If you want to get your hands on the 16 GB model, Apple is selling the new variant in its online store starting 31st May 2013. Although rumors persist that Apple is looking at the development of a cheaper iPhone model to rake in a wider customer base. In an analyst note, Citi Research says the tech giant is heading naturally toward less-expensive models, and this “shift” is considered not only a move toward long-term, rather than short-term, profitability for Apple, but for the tech industry as a whole.

Recent image leaks of an allegedly lower-cost, iPhone have surfaced, suggesting that a cheaper, plastic-cased iPhone may also be on its way. Apple has not confirmed that a less expensive iPhone model is in the works, but considering the quiet introduction of a cheaper iPod Touch and the $329 iPad Mini, it may not be an unrealistic expectation.

ImageIf you purchase the 16 GB version of the iPod Touch, however, you will lose the rear-facing camera. The loss of the camera contributes to the slim design of mobile gadget, which weighs about 3 ounces (86 Grams) and is 4.86 inches tall and 2.31 inches wide. The front-facing camera remains, though it doesn’t have 1080p video recording capabilities. Someone who owns the iPod Touch 4th Generation is very unlikely to ever get used to the absence of a camera.

All in all, if you buy the new iPod Touch, you also lose the ‘Loop’ that comes with the 32 and 64GB models of the iPod Touch 5th Generation. If you are looking for an upgrade to your old iPod Touch and want it to be in budget, then you might want to consider this.

Now,there have been loads of leaks in the last 2 months about what one is expecting from the new iPhone (iPhone 5).Here’s a mockup that sums it all.

Nothing is confirmed yet about what all will be changed and what all wont. Some rumors that we think look promising include,a bigger screen (1136×640 with an aspect ratio of 16:9),a smaller dock connector and the headphone jack being put near the dock connector.Other rumors include,a new type of earphones,A6 processor,2Gigs of ram.

Top 5 Music Apps for iOS

These days, entertainment is always portable, thanks to the awe-inspiring,mind-boggling creations like Apple’s iDevices.Games, news, movies,TV shows, name it and it’s there.Music creation, however,is something that’s stereotypically associated with music studios and tedious work, and it’s hard to believe something like that can be done easily.

Say,is there ANYTHING Apple Inc. has failed to do?

Today,I’ll be giving you an insight on how you can unleash your musical side with NOTHING MORE than your iDevice (and a bit of money,if it’s not jailbroken :P )

Let’s start with something called Loopy. This app is one smooth thing, easy enough to be operated by a 5-year old,and efficient enough to make killer beats. The UI is a treat to the eyes and fingers, and the features make it a delight to use.Simple, press the circle, record your own beats, fool around and you’ve got something rolling for yourself.Used by professionals like Dub FX the beatboxer,I’d highly recommend this one.$2.99 for iPod Touch and iPhone,$7.99 for iPad(jailbreak won’t work,it’ll show up as pirated).Check Dub FX’s encounter with Loopy here.

Next on the list,of course,is Apple’s GarageBand. Another bloody cool thing we have here. Here, you get to choose from a variety of instruments and use up to eight tracks to create your own music.Or plug your guitar in and jam away.Smooth operation, takes a little time to get used to it,but it’s all easy, and lots of fun.All for $4.99,though a jailbreak should fix that . Demo can be seen here.

Then there’s Looptastic,FLStudio,iDubstep,AudioStudio,Beatmaker,Noise.io and a select few which work similarly and are as close as you can get to a music studio.

You’ve successfully been guided in the right direction. The choice is all up to your convenience.Feel free to let us know about your experiences and queries.

Now if you’ll excuse me,I have some beatboxing to do and more beats to record on my iPod B)

[Tutorial] How To Install Siri (GUI Only) On iPhone 4 And iPod touch Running iOS 5

Siri has finally been ported over to other iOS Devices and, unlike last time, there is a way you can install it right now,Though we DO NOT RECOMMEND IT.We suggest that you wait until @chpwn releases it.

How To Install Siri GUI On iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4G

Step 1: You should already be Jailbroken on iOS5.If you’re a beginner just leave a comment in the comment section.

Step 2: Download files required for the Siri port to iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4G. You will have to find these files yourself as we wont be able to share these files with you.

Step 3: Using a file explorer for your iOS device, copy over the AssistantServices.frameworkfolder you downloaded in Step 2 to Root > System > Library > PrivateFrameworks after plugging in your device to your computer via USB.

Step 4: Transfer all files from the Springboard folder in Step 2 to Root > System > Library > CoreServices > Springboard.app on your iOS device.

Step 5: Using iFile (you can get it from Cydia), open the .plist file for your iOS device fromSystem > Library > CoreServices > Springboard.app. It will be named N81AP for iPod touch 4G and N9x for iPhone 4 (where x may be 0, 1, 2).

Step 6: Add a new property list named assistant to the .plist file and set its class as Booleanwhile setting its value as YES.

Step 7: Add the following to the .plist file:

assistant

Step 8: Respring your iOS device.

If you followed the steps correctly, Siri’s GUI will be installed on your iOS device. You can hold the Home button to activate it. Once again, we remind you that voice commands don’t work yet since Apple’s servers don’t accept voice command input from iPhone 4 or iPod touch 4G.

[Tutorial] How to Root a Samsung Stratosphere 4G

The recently released Samsung Stratosphere 4G has been rooted by the guys over at Rootzwizi. The device, which is similar to the original Galaxy S, was released on the 13th and is the first device in Verizon’s lineup of 4G capable devices to feature a QWERTY keypad. This guide will provide a step-by-step method to root your device, however ifyou’re unfamiliar with rooting, it’s advised that you read up on the subject first (check out the Rootzwiki link above) as we can’t be held responsible for any problems you may encounter. Following the advice of the developer we’ll be using Heimdall rather than ODIN due to compatibility,  however if you’re familiar with ODIN you’re free to use that.

Before we begin, this DOES void your warranty, so you need to be aware of that. However, if you take a look on the link above, one of the comments suggests how to unroot, which would (in theory) remove all traces that you ever rooted, and therefore bring your warranty back.

Step 1. First things first, make sure you have the Android SDK installed along with the Android Debug Bridge prior to installation. If you haven’t you can grab the installer from here.

Step 2. Download Heimdall from their website and extract the downloaded .zip. I recommend you get the latest version (which was 1.3.1 as of this post).

Step 3. Okay, so now we can get going; put your Samsung Stratosphere into what’s known as Download Mode.If you’re unfamiliar with how to do this, simply turn your device off, then then hold the Volume Down key and turn it back on. Make sure to keep holding the key until you see “Download Mode Do Not Turn Off Target”.

Step 4. At this point, you need to connect your phone to your computer via USB. Windows users will have to install the drivers (you can do this by going into the extracted folder from Step 2 and going into/Drivers/zagig.exe. Using this, just click on “Install Driver” when asked and then disconnect + reconnect your device. Note that you may be required to do a PC reboot.

Step 5. You now need to download these two files: Stratosphere Root.zip and Stock Kernel.zip. You then need to extract their contents to the same folder you extracted Heimdall to earlier.

Step 6. Depending on your system, open either Command Prompt or Terminal and navigate to the folder you extracted earlier and type:

heimdall detect

If your device is connected, type the following:

heimdall flash –kernel root-zImage

This will flash a custom kernel to your device, and upon reboot you should see a yellow warning symbol. Don’t worry about that at the moment. (Make sure to read on after the end of the post in reference to this)

Step 7. Now on your device you need to enable USB Debugging, which you can do by going to Settings > Applications > Development.

Step 8. Make sure that your device is still connected to your computer by typing:

adb devices

and you should hopefully see something along the lines of:

List of devices attached
3235A3CA0D8400EC                device

And afterwards you need to remount the file system by typing:

adb remount

and again, you should see the following:

remount succeeded

Step 9. The required files now need to be transferred to the device and their permissions set accordingly, so enter the following:

adb push su /system/bin
adb push busybox /system/bin
adb push Superuser.apk /system/app
adb shell chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
adb shell chmod 4755 /system/bin/busybox

Step 10. And now your device should be perfectly rooted; you may want to download something like ROM manager from the Market to check.

For those of you who want to get rid of the yellow triangle, my proposed suggestion is that you just reflash the Stock Kernel you downloaded earlier using the same method as above. I haven’t tried this, but if my other Android devices are anything to go by, it should work just fine.
